Shrub and Bush Removal/Replacement
Posted on Jun 16th, 2015

As you are aware, a large amount  of dead landscaping material was removed last summer, approximately six truck loads.  This was due to the previous harsh winter which killed many of the shrubs and planting material.  Our landscape manager informed us that the winter of 2014 caused more devastation to landscaping than he can remember.  It was not only our Association affected; many experienced similar if not worse destruction.

The removal has left many vacant areas in the fronts of houses.  The Board conducted a thorough walk thru with the landscaper last summer and identified the problem areas.   At the end of last summer we began contacting landscape companies for bids to address the bare areas.  We were not as successful as we had hoped in receiving proposals from landscape companies.

In discussing the overall landscaping with our contractor, he strongly recommended lower maintenance landscape material.  In order to achieve this, our goal is to put the appropriate plant in the appropriate location.  We anticipate that this is going to be a major undertaking and expense.    As the Board of Directors strives to be fiscally responsible, we anticipate that a project of this scale will have to done in stages.

This spring/summer, efforts to obtain bids will be renewed.  If any resident is interesting in serving on an ad hoc landscape committee please send an e-mail through the Associations website with your contact information.

Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
